Relief Map ("the app", "we") helps people find, add and verify nearby washrooms. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Location. With your permission, the app uses your device's approximate or precise location to show washrooms near you and calculate distances and walking routes. You can deny or turn off location permission at any time in your device settings; the app will then have limited functionality.
- Content you submit. If you add a washroom, write a review or feedback, report a place, or upload a photo, that content (including the washroom's location and any text or photo you provide) is stored and may be shown to other users.
- Anonymous identifier. The app creates a random anonymous ID stored on your device so we can attribute submissions and prevent abuse. It is not linked to your name or phone number.
- Donation details. If you choose to donate, the payment is processed by Razorpay. We do not receive or store your card, UPI or bank details. Razorpay's own privacy policy applies to payment information.
- Local storage. Preferences and saved places may be stored on your device so the app works faster and offline.
2. How we use information
- To show nearby washrooms, distances and routes.
- To store and display washrooms, reviews and photos submitted by users.
- To review, verify and moderate submissions, and to prevent spam and misuse.
- To process donations and respond to your support requests.
- To maintain and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information, and the app does not show advertising.
3. Services we use
- Supabase – stores washroom listings, reviews, photos and related data.
- Netlify – hosts the app's web content.
- OpenStreetMap routing service – receives start and end coordinates to calculate walking routes.
- Google Maps – opens in a separate screen when you choose to get directions; Google's privacy policy applies there.
- Razorpay – processes optional donations.
- Content delivery networks (cdnjs, jsDelivr, Tailwind) – deliver code libraries used by the app, and may receive your IP address when loading them.
These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We share information with them only as needed to run the features above, or when required by law.
4. Sharing
Washrooms, reviews and photos you submit are visible to other users of the app. Please do not include personal information about yourself or others in them. We do not share your live location with other users.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep submitted content for as long as it is useful to the community or until you ask us to remove it. To request deletion of content you submitted, or of data linked to your anonymous ID, email us at the address below and include a description of the content. We will respond within a reasonable time.
6. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will remove it.
8. Your choices
- Allow or deny location permission in your device settings.
- Choose whether to submit content or donate.
- Clear the app's stored data from your device settings.
- Ask us to remove content you submitted.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this page, with the date updated above.
